OUR HISTORY
Mitchell Printing has been a cornerstone of the Shoals community for over half a century, rooted in family values and a commitment to quality. Our story began in 1964 when Herbert Mitchell founded "Mitchell's Job Shop" on Virginia Avenue. With a passion for craftsmanship, Herbert laid the foundation for what would become a thriving local business.
In 1969, Herbert's son, Billy Mitchell, took the reins and began to expand the business. Under Billy's leadership, the company grew, and in 1980, he passed the day-to-day operations to his son, Steve Mitchell. Steve's vision for the future led to a pivotal move to Walnut Street in Downtown Florence, where "Mitchell Printing, Inc." was officially born. This move not only signified a new name but also solidified our reputation for family-like customer service and high-quality printing.
As the business continued to grow, Steve expanded the company further, relocating to Tennessee Street, next to Al Ford Insurance. For 21 years, Mitchell Printing called downtown Florence home. In 2001, Steve built a new facility in the industrial park, opening its doors in August of that year. Just one month later, the world changed with the events of 9/11, but Mitchell Printing stood strong, continuing to serve the community with unwavering dedication.
In 2008, we faced another challenge with the housing market crash, yet we persevered, thanks to the support of our loyal customers and the resilience of our family business.
Today, Mitchell Printing remains a family-owned and operated business, deeply connected to the Shoals community. The next chapter of our story belongs to Alex Mitchell, who joined the company in 2016. Under Alex's leadership, Mitchell Printing has embraced the new age of technology and innovation, continuing our tradition of excellence while moving forward into the future.
